The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is at it again promoting abstaining from meat as a healthy lifestyle by using scare tactics. This time they are going after vaccinated citizens by means of a commentary in the October edition of The American Journal of Medicine called Shoring Up Vaccine Efficacy.
The claim of the commentary is that COVID-19 vaccinations will be more effective in those following a vegetarian diet. The write up states that “…a healthier diet would not only reduce the likelihood of severe infection; over time it may also help vaccines to work better.”
Their assumption is that only plant-based diets are “healthy” and that is far from the truth. The vast majority of doctors and nutritionists agree that animal proteins are an integral part of our diet. Animal proteins provide us with vitamins, minerals, and all of the essential amino acids that our bodies require. All of these are required to keep our immune systems at peak performance and that peak performance is required to fight off illnesses and viruses.
