Are you looking for an unforgettable off-road adventure? Look no further than the Arizona Pioneer Expedition! This self-guided 4×4 tour is designed for intermediate to expert level off-roaders who crave excitement and challenge.
The Arizona Pioneer Expedition is not for the faint of heart. With 95% dirt roads, technical obstacles, high mountain shelf roads, deep mud and sand, and sketchy washouts, this trail will push your driving skills to the limit. Be prepared for vehicle damage, as this route can be demanding.
To fully enjoy this adventure, it is recommended that you have a minimum of a 2-inch lift, 33-inch tires, skid plates, and rock sliders. Additionally, carrying extra fuel and having a crew to join you is highly advised.
During the approximately two-week journey, you will traverse from Alpine to Kingman, Arizona, passing through stunning landscapes and encountering some of Arizona’s popular backroads, such as Four Peaks, Cherry Creek, and both the front and back ways to Crown King.
But this expedition isn’t just about the thrill of off-roading. You will also have plenty of time to explore the surrounding attractions. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Sierra Ancha Mountains, visit the Rawhide Wash Slot Canyon, or experience the alternative route to Crown King through the Boulder Pass Trail.
The Arizona Pioneer Expedition GPS tracks, points of interest, and offline basemap can be downloaded for a self-guided tour. However, please note that some sections of the route may close due to the Tonto National Forest Travel Management Plan. Stay updated for any route changes and new downloads.
Remember, safety is paramount on this challenging journey. Always have recovery equipment, a spare tire, and extra fuel for every vehicle in your crew. It is highly recommended to obtain a State Trust Land Permit to ensure compliance with local regulations.
