COMMENTS NEEDED ASAP | ADOT 5 Year Plan | No Apache Trail
The most beautiful section of the Apache Trail is CLOSED at Fish Creek Hill and we need your help reopening it.
No Apache Trail = More Delays
The Arizona Department of Transportation has released its tentative five-year plan. This plan includes millions of dollars in investments in local highways but not a single dollar for the Apache Trail. Throughout the entire 226-page document, the Apache Trail is mentioned a single time concerning Highway 60.
Arizona Transportation Board member Jenn Daniels suggests that more delays could occur if the Apache Trail isn’t included in the 5-year plan.
Arizona Backcountry Explorers is concerned that this plan does not include any work to the Apache Trail including the portions that are currently opened. Although we understand this plan is to introduce the state’s proposed highway projects, we feel uncertain why the Apache Trail isn’t included.
We feel that ADOT has stalled for far too long and efforts to reopen the road should have begun long ago. Please add your voice to ours and send your comments concerning the Apache Trail to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
